Bonnet House - Ft. Lauderdale FLA

May 25th, 2008 · 1 Comment

These are some super pics from a little trip my father and I took to Ft Lauderdale in February 2008.
Bonnet House:

In 1893 Hugh Taylor Birch reportedly got on Henry Flaglers Florida East Coast Railroad which went through to Titusville then set sail in a boat loaned to him by Henry Flagler. Blown ashore to safety in Lake Mabel (Port Everglades today) during an unseasonable Atlantic storm, he believed Fort Lauderdale was where God meant him to be and was where he would stay.

Mr. Birch purchased over three miles of oceanfront property along Fort Lauderdale’s beach for less than one dollar per acre. Henceforth, he spent the winters on his beachfront land where he could absorb the seascapes, enjoy a daily swim in the ocean and grow the fruits and plants he loved.

New Puscifer Video - DoZo

April 30th, 2008 · Comments Off

New video from Puscifer, side project of Maynard James Keenan.  How did I not know about this before?

Keenan describes Puscifer as “simply a playground for the various voices in my head, […] a space with no clear or discernible goals, […] where my Id, Ego, and Anima all come together to exchange cookie recipes.”

Interesting Read: Working Within Limitations to Achieve Great Designs

April 25th, 2008 · No Comments

Like haiku poets, we can embrace limitations, and in so doing create beautiful designs. We can choose to understand the limitations of the mediums we work within. We can also impose artificial limitations, by placing structured restrictions on our work, in order to create unified successful designs. Let’s review some minimalist strategies for improving both: your design work and your bottom line.

“I am passionate about future things”

I love his visions of the future world.  Growing up, I always found comfort in the future.  I think it was a symptom of growing up in the age of the “Space Race”.  The idea of this untapped potential waiting for us as a society seemed to be the whole point of life.

USS Texas Video

April 24th, 2008 · No Comments

Did a little camera practice with my new HV20 and a tripod. Most of the footage is quite shaky, but such is life. Going to take snippets of this footage to start playing with Apple Color, and see if some basic grading can create more dramatic images.
